Centre for European Research at the University of Gothenburg (CERGU)

The Centre for European Research at the University of Gothenburg (CERGU) was established in 1995 to promote multidisciplinary research on issues related to Europe. Currently, CERGU has researchers from three different faculties:The School of Business, Economics and Law,  The Faculty of Arts and The Faculty of Social Sciences. CERGU plays an important part in the European academic environment at GU, together with the Centre for European Studies (CES), which organises the multidisciplinary educational programs with a focus on European Studies.

CERGU's mission is to promote multidisciplinary research on Europe and serve as a knowledge hub stimulating multidisciplinary and policy-relevant debate on European challenges.

The research conducted at CERGU was instrumental in the University of Gothenburg being recognised as a Jean Monnet European Centre for Excellence in 1998. Learn more about CERGU here.
