On 24 October 2018, Adrian Hyde-Price gave a lecture to the Royal Swedish Academy for War Science (Kungl Kriegsvetenskapsakademien) held at the Swedish Defence University. The lecture was part of a public conference on ‘Europe Today and Tomorrow – Quo Vadis European Security? Perspectives from major and minor states’. The title of his lecture was ‘Taking our Fate into our own hands: France and Germany and the Quest for Strategic Autonomy’. In the afternoon he addressed a closed round-table session of the Kungl. Kriegsvetenskapsakademien attended by the Ambassadors of Denmark, Norway and Estonia, and a range of former Swedish ambassadors and armed forces personnel, including the former Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, General Sverker Göranson.
