Research at CERGU

All researchers in the CERGU network are employed by their own disciplinary departments. This organisation allows our scholars to combine disciplinary depth with broader cross-disciplinary insights on European issues. Most researchers are thus conducting research within projects at their home departments (see researchers’ individual webpages). However, CERGU offers the opportunity to place research projects at CERGU, and since 2005, we regularly have open calls for applications for PhD and postdoctoral positions financed by CERGU. A short description of current projects placed at CERGU can be found in the left hand column, as well as the research plans of our current PhD-students and postdocs.

Thematic Areas of Research
With researchers spanning three different faculties, the research conducted by members of the CERGU network covers several aspects of European issues, from ideas of Europe to European integration, from EU-law to social issues, from cultural identities to international trade, and from migration to external relations. Within such a broad field, there are normally a handful of thematic areas in which CERGU has cross-disciplinary strengths. These areas are dynamic and non-exclusionary and vary with changes in European challenges as well as researchers involved in CERGU. Scholars can be conducting research in relation to more than one of these themes:

• Cultural Borders
• Mobility and Migration in Europe
• Institutions, Parties, and Movements
• External Relations, Security, and Trade
